Multiple victims have been reported following a shooting in Hebron, Indiana, according to local police and media reports. Police told a local news outlet that one of the dead is believed to be the shooter. A third person, a woman, was shot and injured. Her condition is not currently known.
The shooting was reported at about 19:40 local time on Saturday near Karmic Sunshine, in the 2900 block of E 181st Avenue, according to local reports. A large area has been secured by police as officers investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Nearby businesses were initially placed under lockdown while police worked to determine whether the suspected gunman was among those killed.
Earlier, D.W.’s Junction 2-65, a bar in the area, said it had gone into lockdown following reports of an active shooter. “There was an active shooter between here and the truck stops,” the bar said in a social media post. “People have been shot and we are on lockdown,” it added.
A local reporter said preliminary information indicated that multiple people may have been shot and that police were securing a large scene near the junction of Routes 2 and 65.
The circumstances of the shooting remain unclear and the investigation is continuing. Officials have not yet released the identities of those involved.
