Sowcar Janaki had acted in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada films. She is survived by her two daughters, Yagna Prabha Koty and Venkataramana Sankaramanchi, and a son, Sachi Rao. Her younger sister, Krishna Kumar, and her granddaughter, Vaishnavi Aravind, followed her footsteps and became actors. Janaki had also acted in several Tamil and Telugu TV shows. In 2022, the actress received a Padma Shri honour for her outstanding contribution to Indian cinema.
