Flock Safety’s automated license plate reader (ALPR) cameras are spreading rapidly across the United States, with the company saying they help police solve crimes, locate stolen vehicles and find missing people. But the technology has also sparked concerns over privacy, police misuse and the potential for widespread government surveillance.
