Amid an escalating flood situation in several parts of Odisha, district administrators have announced the closure of schools in affected areas to ensure students’ safety and well-being.
In Bhadrak district, the Collector has declared a holiday for 268 schools across six flood-affected blocks. As per the directions, all schools in the specified blocks shall remain closed today, with Bant excluded from the closure order.
In addition, 567 Anganwadi centres located in the affected areas will remain shut today, August 18, 2026.
The decision has been taken in light of the ongoing flood situation across the state, as clogged roads and inclement weather have made it harder for them to commute to their respective schools.
Similar orders have been issued in Jajpur district, where all government, private and Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya schools have been instructed to remain closed.
The district administration has taken the decision keeping the flood situation in mind and prioritising the safety of students.
