The family of UnitedHealthcare chief executive Brian Thompson has welcomed Luigi Mangione’s guilty plea over the 2024 shooting that killed him, calling it an “important step toward justice”. Mangione, 28, admitted in a Manhattan federal court on Friday that he shot Thompson outside a hotel in December 2024.
