Three people, including a child, were fatally stabbed at a daycare facility in Hopkins, Minnesota, on Wednesday in what police described as a domestic incident.
The stabbing took place at the Brown Bear Childcare facility on the 200 block of Tyler Avenue North, prompting a major police response. Hopkins Police Chief Brent Johnson said the victims were two adults and a child who were believed to be members of the same family.
Police Suspect Murder Suicide
Authorities said preliminary evidence points to a suspected murder suicide. Police believe the adult male killed the woman and child before taking his own life.
The identities of the victims have not yet been officially released. Officials also have not disclosed what led to the stabbing.
“This is a horrific, tragic situation for any community, especially in Hopkins where we don’t see this type of crime,” Johnson said.
Children At Daycare Safe
Other children present at the daycare were not harmed and were safely evacuated from the facility, police said.
Authorities later secured the scene and confirmed there was no continuing threat to the wider public.

The daycare is identified as Brown Bear Childcare, an in home facility on Tyler Avenue North. Property records indicate that the business was operated by Kristen Brown with her partner, Michael Hunt.
Officials have not confirmed whether the victims were the owners or operators of the daycare.
