Rather than setting one fixed number for everyone, consular offices will have discretion to determine bond amounts on a case by case basis, weighing each applicant’s individual circumstances. Based on information reportedly provided by the State Department, some of the cases already being processed this week carry bond amounts around $100,000, while others reach as high as $250,000.
