A 40-year-old director posted with the Lok Sabha Secretariat was found dead at his apartment in a housing society in Noida, police said on Wednesday (August 5). Police suspect he died by suicide and recovered a purported suicide note from the flat, which reportedly mentioned a loan, according to a PTI report.
The deceased has been identified as Gaurav Gautam. According to police, he was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his apartment in Kendriya Vihar-II Society in Sector 82 on Sunday. Further investigation is underway.
According to the Phase-2 police station, information about the incident was received through a memo from a hospital after Gautam was taken there for treatment. Doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Husband Found Dead
Police said Gautam’s wife had gone to her parental home. Upon returning home, she found the flat locked and, suspecting something was amiss, entered the house with the help of a security guard.
She found her husband hanging and rushed him to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared him dead, police said.
A forensic team and the local police inspected the spot and collected evidence. Inquest proceedings were completed and the body was sent for post-mortem examination.
Police said a suicide note recovered from the flat referred to a loan. The contents of the note are being examined as part of the investigation. Further legal proceedings are underway, police added.
Woman Jumps From 18th Floor Of Noida Society
A 46-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the 18th floor of a residential society in Noida in June, with police saying her husband told them she had been under mental stress for some time.
The incident occurred around 9.15 am at Lotus Spacia Society, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Sector 39 police station.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Parul Agarwal. The society’s security guard alerted her husband, Pallav Agarwal, and informed the police. A police team reached the spot and sent the body for a post-mortem after completing the inquest proceedings. The police said a forensic team was also called to the scene, and evidence was being collected as part of the investigation.
