According to police, a group of boys who had gone to the cricket ground to play early in the morning spotted the severed head and immediately informed the Varthur police. Officers rushed to the spot and began an investigation. Earlier, during a routine inspection on Tuesday night, railway police had found a headless body near the railway tracks, around 300 metres from the cricket ground.
